Fil-pixxina nazzjonali f’Tal-Qroqq, il-Prim Ministru Robert Abela żar sessjoni ta’ taħriġ tal-atleta Neil Agius qabel l-isfida tiegħu ‘The Gozo 7’ bejn il-31 ta’ Awwissu u s-6 ta’ Settembru li ġej.

Din l-inizjattiva se tinvolvi għawma ta’ 15-il siegħa kuljum li jkopru 42 kilometru, għal sebat ijiem konsekuttivi madwar il-gżira Għawdxija.

F’kelmtejn ma’ xulxin, Robert Abela u Neil Agius iddiskutew il-preparamenti intensivi li għaddejjin bħalissa, fejn l-atleta Malti qed iħejji ruħu għas-sitwazzjonijiet li se jsib fil-baħar u qed jaħdem ħafna fuq in-nifs li se jkun kruċjali biex jirnexxi fil-mira tiegħu.

Saħqu li attività bħal din tressaq lin-nies iktar viċin il-kunċett ta’ motivazzjoni favur ħajja sana.

Neil Agius qal li l-isfida hija diffiċli ħafna iżda jaf li biha se jkun qed iżid l-interess tal-poplu fl-attività fiżika u s-saħħa mentali. Semma wkoll li hija l-intenzjoni tiegħu li b’din l-għawma jagħti prominenza lill-gżira Għawdxija.

Filwaqt li faħħar l-impenn tal-atleta Malti, Dr Abela qal li messaġġ ieħor importanti favur ħajja sana hija n-nutrizzjoni li fi kliemu trid tingħata iktar importanza.

Qablu li l-ikel huwa l-bażi tal-iżvilupp tal-persuna, għaliex meta tiekol aħjar se tistrieħ aħjar, tkun aktar b’saħħtek u tibqa’ ffukat matul il-ġurnata kollha.

Neil Agius irringrazzja lill-Prim Ministru tal-interess li dejjem juri fix-xogħol u l-inizjattivi tiegħu.

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the DoubleTree by Hilton in Buġibba and the Fitch Hotel in St Julian’s, two recent investments that continue to strengthen and diversify Malta’s tourism offering.

Malta is increasingly cementing its position as a leading destination on the global tourism map. Our tourism sector continues to register growth that not only surpasses the European average but also exceeds that of other Mediterranean countries. Prime Minister Robert Abela attributed this success to clear strategic choices and the implementation of a series of ambitious initiatives; all geared towards sustainable economic growth. He noted that the Malta Vision 2050 places strong emphasis on developing a tourism sector that prioritises quality over quantity.

Dr Abela expressed satisfaction that during the month of May, Malta saw not only an increase in tourist arrivals but also a rise in expenditure compared to the same period last year. He emphasised that the consistent inflow of tourists throughout the year is driving further investment and innovation by the private sector, which in turn continue to enhance the Maltese tourism product.

Among these investments is the DoubleTree by Hilton in Buġibba, a €22 million project by the Tumas Group. This hotel is the second property in Malta by Hilton. The DoubleTree features 485 rooms and offers a range of recreational and tourism-focused amenities. Meanwhile, in the heart of St Julian’s, the Fitch Hotel stands as a testament to successful private sector investment by two Italians, both of whom bring extensive experience in the hospitality industry.

Prime Minister Robert Abela visits expanding local business

Prime Minister Robert Abela has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that Malta’s continued economic growth translates into tangible benefits for Maltese and Gozitan families. His remarks came during a visit to the PANINA outlet in Santa Venera, ahead of the rollout of the first 12 measures under the Malta Labour Migration Policy, set to come into force on 1st August.

Accompanied by Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri, the Prime Minister met with the owner and staff of PANINA, a homegrown business that has grown from a single outlet in Fgura to five locations across Malta, with plans to expand to eight by next year. The Santa Venera outlet is now also being upgraded with a larger kitchen to support operations across the entire chain.

Dr Abela praised the entrepreneurial spirit of the business’s founder, a Maltese entrepreneur who started from humble beginnings and now employs both Maltese and foreign workers based on operational needs. “We want to see more businesses flourish and grow, because their success drives national prosperity. It is encouraging to witness how employers are being empowered to continue investing and creating jobs,” Prime Minister Abela said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the Malta Labour Migration Policy will offer concrete Government support to ethical employers, who make up the overwhelming majority. He stated that the policy is designed to foster a fairer, more stable employment landscape that benefits both businesses and workers alike. “Above all, this policy is about strengthening workers’ rights,” Dr Abela said. He outlined two major reforms: Employers who terminate workers without justified cause will be barred from recruiting replacements from third countries for the same role and the fee for employing new foreign workers will be doubled.

Dr Abela concluded by describing the policy as an ambitious step forward in labour reform firmly committed to Maltese people first.
